Re: Snub Pulleys
Dear Andreas,
You might try Googling it with many responses such as:

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Snub can be considered a verb: to act, move or repel
Change the direction of the belt line. Move or change the belt's horizontal path near the tail pulley achieving:
a) larger belt wrap angle for improved slippage control,
b) holding the return belt line ground clearance while allowing reduced tail pulley ground clearance,
c) holding the return belt ground clearance while allowing a larger tail diameter which uses a snub to bring the carry side belt line to a controlled position. ■
Re: Snub Pulleys
Snub pulleys are used at head / drive end to increase the wrap angle. At tail end you hv the answer from Nordell. ■
Re: Snub Pulleys
Dear Ash
snub pulley at tail end may be required based on your belt profile . some times when your tail pulley diameter is large .
In such cases snub pulley at tail end is provided to lift belt up to return idler level . . As return idlers are not designed for taking belt tension it is desirable to avoid tension on Return roller by providing snub pulleys/ deflector pulleys
